WATCH: Aidan Moffat Film Trailer

New film following Aidan Moffat on tour, alongside great folk singer Sheila Stewart, will be toured by Moffat at special screenings

Aidan Moffat will set out touring a new film he has made around England this month and into July.

At each cinema screening, he will also perform live while there will be a Q&A too with the film’s director, Paul Fegan. Where You’re Meant To Be stars Moffat alongside Sheila Stewart and follows him around as he tours Scotland in 2014, playing live.

The film was intended to be a snapshot of the tour, but just before they began, Fegan met Sheila Stewart, a 79-year-old described as “the last in a line of travelling folk royalty”. Her unexpected death in 2014 changed the course of the film and influenced Moffat heavily.

It sees Moffat and Stewart trade off on their views about how Scotland’s oldest folk songs should be interpreted. Moffat believes they are suitable for re-working for contemporary audiences while Stewart disagrees. It will be released from June 17 but special screenings will take place starting this Sunday (June 12) at Sheffield Doc/Fest.
