Young Fathers Win Mercury Prize 2014

...and take home £20,000 for their trouble

Young Fathers have been announced as the winner of this year’s Mercury Prize. The Scottish group won the £20,000 award for their album DEAD, coming ahead of a shortlist that included East India Youth, FKA twigs and more.

In other news, some observers have argued that the More4 continuity announcer’s sterling attempts at keeping the show on the road after the broadcast of the group’s post-win interview broke down should have seen her taking home the prize. Have a listen to ‘LOW’ from the album below:
