BSP Family Memoir On Sale As eBook

Roy Wilkinson's Do It For Your Mum gets primed for "techno-papyrus"

Whether it’s because of the less-than-two-months-away-now proximity of Christmas or you simply didn’t get a copy the first time round, here’s some good news: Do It For Your Mum, Roy Wilkinson’s British Sea Power history-cum-family memoir is now available as an eBook. Wilkinson, a tQ contributor, is the ex-manager of the band and the older brother of members Hamilton and Yan, and Do It For Your Mum tells of their father Ronald, an ex-World War Two anti-aircraft gunner-cum-indie rock fanatic, and their family story, going from the brothers’ native Natland in the Lake District to the band’s exploits in Japan (as featured in the extract we published here).

Reviewing the book for Caught By The River, tQ editor Luke Turner wrote: "The traditional rock biography is often a dispiriting affair, either dry analysis from a critic outsider, or vainglorious preening from the artist themselves. Do It For Your Mum, by contrast, is one of the finest books you will ever read involving the need to transfer the narrative of lives playing rock & roll onto the printed page."

Head to the book’s website for details on getting hold of the eBook (as well as some very amusing advice for downloading the requisite app for reading: "A Kindle application for computer, iPhone, Android or synth-o-mesh bumbag can pretty easily be acquired for an attractive 0.00 pounds") and keep an eye on the Quietus for a follow-up feature from Wilkinson in the near future.
