WATCH: John Doran Meets John Cale

New album due in September says Cale, in interview with the Quietus editor at Liverpool Sound City

As part of last week’s Liverpool Sound City festival, tQ’s John Doran interviewed John Cale. Their discussion took in everything from Cale’s solo work to the man’s fascinating history with figures like Aaron Copland, The Happy Mondays and Tom Verlaine, the story behind ‘The Gift’, missing Europe as a Welsh ex-pat, and new music, with Cale saying of his follow-up to 2012’s Adventures In Nookie Wood: "I’m in the middle of doing radio mixes for a couple of tracks for it, I think we’ll be finished around July so with any luck it’ll be out September and we’ll be back to do some touring around then. More than that I can’t say, I haven’t decided what the title’s going to be so I better leave it there."

Have a watch of the career-spanning interview above.
