Thrill Jockey will be releasing Sub Contra, the third album by Kid Millions and Bobby Matador’s Oneida side project People Of The North, next month – have a listen to LP opener ‘Drama Class’ below:
As you’d expect from the pairing, it’s an unrelenting proposition, with a ground layer of shredding distortion (the guitar equivalent to the high-pressure snare raps of Millions’ Man Forever work) which gets met by some exploratory, polygonal rhythmic stutterings, both eventually subsumed by a viscerally noisy assault by Matador’s synth arsenal.
Oneida bandmates also Shahin Motia and Barry London also take up guest spots on the record, which is released on June 11.
