Einsturzende Neubauten Release New Compilation

Out this autumn. Photo by Mote Sinabel

Einsturzende Neubauten are to release the next instalment of their Strategies Against Architecture series of compilations this autumn. Strategies Against Architecture IV will be released on 8 November 2010, and feature music culled from their period of operation 2002 to 2010.

This was a time of varied methodologies and output for Neubauten, from the magisterial Perpetuum Mobile long-player, via the Palast der Republik DVD, and Jewels record that saw them using Neubauten signifiers pulled from a hat (was it Blixas?) to inspire/kick start a track (read the Quietus review. The eight year timeframe also saw Neubauten making good use of the internet age, allowing their "supporters" to have access to the intimacies of the recording process.

All of the above will be featured on Strategies Against Architecture IV: we are promised live recordings from the Palast der Republik concert, Bertolt Brecht Und Der Weltempfänger (including "a roll of gaffer tape descending a staircase") and music from their Musterhaus series of online exclusive records.

The release comes in the wake of the London leg of Neubauten’s 30th Anniversary tour. On October 16th, the band play a full show at the London Forum, followed the next day by An Evening With Einsturzende Neubauten at the intimate Highbury Garage. This will consist of Hitman’s Heal (Alexander Hacke & Danielle de Picciotto) and "Soundscapes" from Jochen Arbeit and guest artist Scanner.
